Who We Are

Light-On Children Wellbeing Foundation (LOF) was founded in 2023 with a single, powerful belief: every child deserves LOF — love, opportunity, and a future free from emotional suffering. We are a Nigerian non-profit organization dedicated to improving the mental health, education, and overall wellbeing of children and young people. From school classrooms to community halls, LOF shows up where children are — creating safe spaces, offering support, and shining a light on what matters most: their emotional wellbeing.

The Problem We're Solving

Mental health remains one of the most stigmatized issues in Nigeria. Children and young people face emotional challenges — anxiety, trauma, neglect, abuse — with little to no access to support. Schools rarely have counselors. Communities lack awareness. And children suffer in silence.

LOF exists to change this. We are breaking the stigma, building awareness, and creating the support systems that Nigerian children need and deserve.

Mental Health Talks in Schools

What We Do

LOF delivers monthly mental health education sessions directly in schools. Our talks cover emotional awareness, coping strategies, anti-bullying, self-esteem, and how to seek help. We also provide parent education sessions to equip caregivers with the tools to support their children’s emotional wellbeing.

Who It Serves

Primary and secondary school students, as well as their parents and teachers, in underserved communities across Nigeria.

How It Works

  • LOF partners with schools to schedule regular monthly sessions
  • Trained facilitators deliver age-appropriate mental health workshops
  • Parent and teacher sessions run alongside student talks
  • Follow-up resources and referral pathways are provided where needed

Skill Acquisition

What We Do

LOF’s Skill Acquisition program equips young people with practical, income-generating skills.

From craft-making to digital literacy, we provide training that empowers youth to build confidence and create opportunities for themselves.

Who It Serves

Young people aged 13–25 in underserved communities, particularly those at risk of dropping out of school or lacking employment pathways.

How It Works

  • LOF organizes skill-building workshops in partnership with local trainers and organizations
  • Participants learn practical skills over a structured program period
  • Mentorship and follow-up support help young people apply what they’ve learned
  • The program is designed to build both skill and self-belief

Pad a Girl
Flagship Program

What We Do

Period poverty is a silent crisis keeping thousands of Nigerian girls out of school. LOF's Pad a Girl program provides free sanitary pads and comprehensive menstrual health education to girls in schools and communities. We break the stigma around menstruation and ensure that no girl misses school because of her period.

Who It Serves

Girls aged 10–18 in schools and communities, particularly in areas where access to sanitary products is limited or non-existent.

How It Works

  • LOF distributes free sanitary pads directly to girls in schools and communities
  • Each distribution includes menstrual health education — breaking myths, teaching hygiene, and building confidence
  • Teachers and community leaders are engaged to sustain conversations beyond LOF visits
  • The program tracks attendance impact to measure how many girls stay in school

When you support Pad a Girl, you keep a girl in school, in confidence, and on track for her future. [Support Pad a Girl →]
